Throughout the school year, we encourage you to attend and participate in virtual school opportunities, such as parent/teacher conferences, school holiday programs, student academic and extracurricular activities, and school celebrations. Our hope is to build students who are prepared, responsible, involved, dedicated, and excited to learn and grow in their school and neighborhood community. Our students will know they are the heart of the school, and every decision we make will be to meet their academic, social, and emotional needs. We will continue to build upon a culture where students, parents, and staff feel welcome and are willing to share their questions and concerns. During current times, we are especially focused on keeping our students and staff safe by following outlined district and campus COVID safety precautions. We must come together to support our students and provide them every opportunity to be successful.Īlong with the focus on meeting standard, it is our vision to ensure our students receive these exemplary learning opportunities in a safe, nurturing environment. This will require strong parent, teacher, and school involvement. These practices will be supplemented by targeted small group instruction in reading and math, tutorials, and various formative and summative evaluations to ensure we are making progress. These endeavors will be accomplished by ensuring our students come to school daily and understand content objectives, master content performance tasks, and meet success criteria. We are committed to providing instructional resources and practices that accommodate the varied learning needs of our students. We will ensure every student receives effective instruction and intervention tailored to meet their specific needs. ![]() This challenge will require us to trust the processes needed to ensure academic performance. At Parkdale, it will be our goal to improve academic performance for all students and ensure student growth. Our focus is to build upon the foundations of Panther PRIDE during the 2020-2021 school year to ensure our campus meets standard. In my short-time, I have been privy to the foundations of Panther PRIDE and how it will assist us in making student excellence a standard at Parkdale. The partnerships we develop together will be vital to the success of our students at Parkdale. Read about how the Youth Chorus of Central Texas was started.It is an honor and privilege to have been selected to serve the community of Parkdale Elementary. Her passion, courage and creativity is only highlighted by her personal desire to continue to develop as a professional music educator. Vento Banda’s guidance, and they have so many more opportunities to develop their musical arts learning because of her. In one of her “40 Under 40” nomination letters, a colleague wrote, “As Giselle grows, her kids grow! Music has become their passion under Ms. “This organization holds a special place in my heart, for I, too, was in a children’s chorus in Mexico,” Vento Banda said. She also serves as the co-director of the Youth Chorus of Central Texas, a community choral group for 3rd to 12th graders from diverse educational and economic backgrounds. Vento Banda’s reach goes beyond Waco ISD. ![]() ![]() When I refer to them as ‘scholars,’ my students’ behaviors shift, and they take pride in learning,” she said. After all, children become the imprint we leave in their minds. I also want them to know that their teachers are scholars, too. “I want children to be globally minded, lifelong learners. Now, she wants to return the favor to the school community that “gracefully invested and welcomed me into its circle.”Ī small but impactful way she motivates her students is to call them “scholars.” Vento Banda heard a friend used the term, and it resonated with her. “As a disoriented ESL student, walking into the choir room taught me that I was a member of the gaggle and had arrived in a safe space where I could be me,” she said. Giselle Vento Banda has a long history at Waco Independent School District - she attended the district’s school as a student. ![]()
